I have been working at UC Irvine full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Nice weather, depending on the major you can find some great departments here. Nice people.

Cons

Not all the departments are good. Not on the very top of the rankings among US Universities. A little bit bring city.

I worked at UC Irvine part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The environment is relatively easy going. The workload is not too heavy, and it is a very low stress place to work at. Pay is reasonable for the amount of work you do.

    Cons

Not enough hours for student workers, but you can't really complain too much about that. I can say that I have encountered an incident of discrimination, but nothing too serious.

  2. "Good Research University"

I have been working at UC Irvine full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

UC Irvine has a strong computational chemistry program with research groups covering a wide range from electronic structure to biological and atmospheric applications.

    Cons

Southern California can disguise the passing of time, 2 years are quickly gone. Moreover, one has to get out of Irvine. Buy car, go to LA. Sleep and work at UCI, go anywhere else for social/cultural life.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.
