Pros

-Free meal with every shift
-Nice people to work with

Cons

-Some shifts can end pretty late
-No initiation training; jumped right into first shift having to learn on the fly
-Dishroom shifts can get quite dirty

I have been working at UC San Diego full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Many resources due to the shared bargaining of the whole UC system. Some very good research and professors.

    Cons

Well, my boss was never one to care about personal growth, which was endlessly frustrating.

I have been working at UC San Diego full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The quality of research being done here is excellent! Many opportunities to grow in techniques and understanding. Hours can be long but are flexible. Former coworkers from industry now work here, and report better pay.

    Cons

The depth of work may make it difficult to meet new people, network, or expand areas of personal interest into new topics of study.

    Advice to Management

More programs for integration with biotechnology/ private industry and more opportunities for networking would be beneficial.
