I have been working at UC San Diego part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Students are bright, colleagues are great, administrative staff is very competent.

Cons

This would be a great job if it were full time. Unfortunately UCSD seems to operate a bit like Wal-Mart in that the administrative staff seems to go out of their way to make sure that you're only ever part time. The effect of this practice (1) turns what would be a decent annual starting salary ($49K) into a poor salary ($22K), and (2) makes it hard to become benefits-eligible.

Advice to Management

If you have effective lecturers then make them happy by hiring them full time. Happy employees = more productive employees.

I would not recommend UC San Diego Health Systems to a friend. Very unproductive work environment with very poor upper management

    Cons

poor leadership, expect long hours with no compensation or gratitude

I worked at UC San Diego part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I really enjoyed my time working here as a UCDC Peer Advisor. All the advisor in the office was always eager to help and genuinely cared for their students. In my opinion, AIP is totally underrated by the student body here. With advisors going the extra mile to make sure you secure that internship (which ultimately helps your resume stand out), I don't understand why turnout is so small.

    Cons

Since UCSD is such a huge campus, it's pretty difficult to spread the word to students. Flyering, info sessions, and classroom advertising can only do so much. Sometimes students can seem nonchalant and disaffected, but with some determination, you'll find students to reach out to.
