I have been working at UC San Francisco full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

There are numerous opportunities to attend seminars and events, which are emailed to you daily. There are a lot of top people to potentially collaborate with. You are given 24 days off and 12 sick days per year.

Cons

Because there are multiple campuses, not all of the seminars and opportunities are nearby. HR took a while to enter me into the system, and they can be slow. Most likely your relationship with your boss will be awkward enough that there will be unspoken pressure to not really take all 36 days off.

Advice to Management

Hire more HR personnel or manage them more effectively.

I worked at UC San Francisco full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked with amazing and extremely intelligent people, so the standards were set relatively high from the beginning. This allowed me to grow and progress intellectually. My duties and responsibilities were diverse and challenging enough for me not to get bored.

    Cons

Due to the busy nature of my PI and my postdoctoral mentor, sometimes it was a bit confusing and difficult to carry out appropriate planning of experiments. This lead to wasting of materials and time.

    Advice to Management

A bit more efficient allocation of time.
