I worked at UCLA full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Nice environment. Youthful atmosphere being a college campus. Tons of diversity and lots of services right out your window.

Cons

Parking is limited and expensive. Opportunities for advancement are scarce. Academic Department heads seriously undervalue their administrative staff.

Advice to Management

There needs to be more oversight with respect to how faculty manage their money and their employees. It's like a bunch of poorly run small businesses with no oversight or repercussions for bad business practices. Many of these faculty would lose their shops if they didn't have someone (ie. the taxpayer) bailing them out left and right.

I have been working at UCLA part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They know understand that you are a student and need time off of work during particular times during the year, such as before/during finals. The hours are very flexible. The staff is friendly and encouraging. You get the opportunity to work with other high achieving students your age. The pay is great and the work is interesting and not stressful.

    Cons

There is a limit on how little or many hours you can work each week. It can also be difficult to transition into a full time position since employers assume you are going to quit when you graduate.

"If you're still don't know what you want to do, this job is a good job to chill and think about it."
