I have been working at UCLA part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Pay is always on time.
Departmental management is often hands-off but supportive of TAs.

    Cons

Sometimes "hands-off" department means NO support/structure for TAs.
Salary scale not always applied correctly for summer work.
Department-level classroom size caps do not always accurately reflect class size regulations.

    Advice to Management

At LEAST check in with a TA before they teach their class. Sometimes I have experienced this step omitted.

I have been working at UCLA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The UC system offers great benefits.

    Cons

Poor management in general. There is a lot of red tap and there is a top down approach in the leadership structure.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your people, please.
