Pros

Work is enjoyable. The people that you end up interacting with are on the whole friendly.

Cons

Beauracracy. Lack of communication between departments. Could use more interdepartmental collaboration.

I worked at UCLA part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I was a student worker while I was an undergrad at UCLA. I was a registration assistant and I loved it. My boss was amazing and so were the students and staff who worked there. The pay was definitely on the higher end compared to other students jobs -- especially the ones on campus. They worked around my class schedule, it was awesome.

    Cons

The only thing that was bad was when the budget got cut so did all of the student hours. Not UCLA Extension's fault, just something that was a bummer about working there.

I have been working at UCLA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Young and interesting environment due to students and world class education
    - Fair salaries and good benefits, excellent infrastructure (car pools, gym, pools, hospitals)
    - Different work climate due to close interaction with faculty and the teaching side
    - Positive work life balance

    Cons

    - Sometimes bureaucratic, especially in terms of change
    - Often clocks tick slower here, especially in terms of management decissions
    - Lower salaries than in the "free economy"
