I have been working at UNC Health Care full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Friendly coworkers, great benefits and employee recreation/wellness programs, and academic assistance. They are always pushing for improvement which makes work challenging but not boring. And, despite their size, they take they take the time to recognize employees.

Cons

Parking. But they have park & ride lots and the town of Chapel Hill has a free bus system.

Advice to Management

Increase visibility to employees at all levels.

    Doesn't Recommend

I worked at UNC Health Care part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Usually the PIs get a lot of money, so you can negotiate the pay.

    Cons

Depending on who you work for, you don't get much professional development as a research assistant. You also have to be careful of physicians who don't like RAs around their patients.

    Advice to Management

Give RAs opportunities to be more engaged in research, rather than only giving them administrative work to do.
