Pros

The company is very strong and there is definite stability. Since there are many facets to UPS, pofessional gowth is a positive as well. UPS is an ideal company to start a career with, not necessarily so for one in their mid career depending on the position. Strong brand recognition and gaining solid experience will be a plus for any resume. UPS wants to retain and promote from within so have expectations to be there for the long haul if you truly want to make a go of it. The company is relatively flat, there are many supervisors and managers, but at the same time there is plenty of promotion opportunity.

Cons

Work/Life Balance is nonexistent. According to UPS, there is no deadline that can go unmet, no matter how insignificant. Also pay is not in line with performance. You wil often find that salary for positions is at or below average for a given role or industry. Very conservative policies. Expect to be stretched thin and not necessarily rewarded as you feel that you should. In many cases, it may be difficult to advance your career, depending on the group that you work in. There is a tendancy for certain managers to "tap your brakes" since there is an approval process to be considered for supervisory roles.

Advice to Management

Adapt your philosophies to attract and keep younger talent.

    Pros

No lack of work. Check will always clear. You will have a secure retirement.

    Cons

Sales people are managed like the union drivers without the benefits of the union. Real money made on stock which has been struggling since they went public in 1999.

No lack of work; As an Account Executive you will be responsible for winning new business, retaining current volume and revenue (by product), ALL CUSTOMER SERVICE (as support is inadiquate), holding the drivers hands for leads, get the operation to pick-up the accounts on time, deliver late air, shovel out letter centers and documents everything but how many times you went to the bathroom in their CRM.

    Advice to Management

Retire and give this American Success Story a breath of fresh air to make it another 100 years
