I have been working at UPS full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

The benefits are good - particularly if you are a two-unit manager.

Cons

Work/Life Balance: there is nothing balanced at UPS. You either work till you drop or don't work at all. Impossible goals are expected to be met and humiliation in front of peers is not uncommon when goals are not met. The workload and hours are unreasonable. Work/life balance is a foreign concept to management. Many managers and supervisors have been through divorces because of their responsibility to UPS. The management in the EBA Department micromanage their groups and overburden employees with too many reports, recaps, reviews, meetings and anything else that doesn't help grow the business. These reports are only used to cover the managers. If you mention it or disagree with their reasoning, you are targeted and removed as a disgruntled employee, regardless of you meeting goals.

I worked at UPS part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Still thinking................................................................................. Oh. Better snacks when visitors show up

    Cons

No control over work hours. No sick days. Not able to apply to jobs in other areas of the company even with completed degree. Still old school boys club in Operations no matter what type of diversity is implied in the glossy ads. Management jobs are rotated laterally very rare to see new blood or fresh ideas. Bully's with the least integrity rise to the top.

    Advice to Management

Share the wealth down the chain. The payoff will be 2 fold in talent. Zappos. Zappos. Zappos
