I have been working at UPS full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Assignments are challenging and offer great exposure to the many business units within the company. Growth potential narrows as you climb the ladder, but those who demonstrate excellence, perseverance, flexibility, and prudent risks are amply rewarded

Cons

Too much focus on budget management to the extent the management employees must record hours worked against internal budgets on a daily basis.

Advice to Management

Treat management salaried employees as management salaried employees.

I worked at UPS full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The most important reason to work at UPS is that most positions pay better than competitors in the industry. The only other positive thing that i liked was that you are self directed while out on the route.

    Cons

Absolutely ridiculous micro-management from middle managers. Military style over regulation of every aspect of the job. Management only concerned with quarterly numbers and not long term well being of company or customer relations. Advesarial relationship between hourly union labor, and management.

    Advice to Management

While attention to quarterly performance is important in all publicly held companies, cutting corners to meet short term numbers goals greatly agrevates customers and definitely hurts long term business growth. Only sustainable in an environment of inferior competition.
