I worked at US Air Force full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Good training, good prople, quality of life getting better every year. Had a great time traveling thruout the world. Can change jobs after first 3 years even if your job is critical

Cons

Long hours, Wartime duty. Pressure for everyone to become a manager.

Advice to Management

Bring back W-1 thru w-4 to keep old guys with lots of knowledge.

    Working with Airmen, civilians, and contractors aligned to the same mission; As an officer, opportunities to lead and make a difference in the next generation of Airmen; Different challenges to overcome at different stages of your career -- gain both breadth and depth of experience; Get to share true "war stories" with other veterans; Take your family with you to live in some unique corners of the world -- have close friends in many countries; Mandatory Fitness; Occasional military discounts.

    Cons

    Frequent and extended deployments living in tents or trailers; uprooting children from their friends and schools; furniture that gets beat up from every move/reassignment; house sale losses during market slump.

    Advice to Management

    Spend less; mentor more.
