I worked at US Air Force as a contractor (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great Benefits including paid education (to some extent) to expand your desired career or the career you enlist for.
The hierarchy and structure is similar to, yet slightly better than, any corporate business in the "outside world."

    Cons

Clueless training clueless and supervising the completely flabbergasted. Most times, folks will find that what they train for in tech school is only the book example of what their career requires of them in certain locations. Each location will have its own policies and guidelines to follow, making standardization nearly impossible across the entire Air Force.

    Advice to Management

I understand that joining the military is like marrying into/joining a family, but in what family do ALL the members pay for the mistakes of the few, or the one? The Air Force is keeping the people it should kick out and kicking out the people it should keep. Won't be long before force reshaping does away with all the competent airmen.

I have been working at US Air Force full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A sense of pride in what you do. Only 1% of the U.S. population serve in the military. Great promotion opportunity as long as you do what needs to be done. World-wide travel opportunity. Experiences your friends can't begin to understand.

    Cons

With reduction in force, many unfair policies have been put in place to help the force shaping effort. Other than that, wouldn't change the last 24 years

    Advice to Management

CHANGE THE PHYSICAL FITNESS PROGRAM. NOT EVERYONE IS BUILD TO BE A STICK FIGURE!!!
