    Pros

You are making a difference in the lives and abilities of U.S. military servicemembers. Conduct of the DTC mission has a direct impact on providing new and improved capabilities into the hands of servicemembers, and has a direct impact on the ability of the U.S. Department of Defense to protect and defend the United States.

    Cons

As with most U.S. federal organizations, getting things done takes entirely too long. Many accomplishments are made in spite of red tape and lack of leadership understanding or support. Other positive potentials fail to be realized for these same reasons. Leadership is not fully engaged in understanding of some business-essential activities, which would be fine if lower-level workers were empowered, but often they are not.

    Advice to Management

Trust the workers that you have selected, empower them to do their job, challenge their decision-making only when absolutely essential or in cases where a poor track record suggests that this level of oversight is warranted!

I have been working at US Army Developmental Test Command full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

ATEC many advantages to it's employees where teaming efforts are involved. They afford the employ an opportunity to travel, Telecommute (with a demonstrated need), reasonable time off for work life balance. The projects are stimulating where can be proud of their accomplishments. The culture is generally a family of friends making things happen. They look out for one another and offer assistance and guidance where needed.

    Cons

Limited opportunities to move up therefore limited opportunities for new hires. Basically have to wait for someone to retire in order to find a permanent position.
