I worked at US Army full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Unique experience, physically and mentally challenging, more responsibility straight out of college than 90% of employers.

Cons

Slow, bureaucratic organization, promotion/advancement structure is very rigid and discriminant, performance is not rewarded with incentives.

    Pros

    Wide range of benefits; no previous training or experience required, will be provided; lots of opportunity for travel

    Cons

    Normally can't choose location; work/life balance horrible; extremely bureacratic; average worker unskilled and unintelligent; manager quality same as workers; benefits also low quality

    Advice to Management

    Practice what you preach; listen to and take real care of your people
