I have been working at US Army full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

It is truly a meritocracy. There is limited to no discrimination. There are lots of choices and challenges. You can easily change positions and learn new things. Significant emphasis on training and development of personnel.

Cons

Limited salaries. Most have to deploy to foreign countries. Don't always have control over where you live. large bureacracy soemtimes make simple things difficult.

    Pros

    Excellent benefits, decent pay, guaranteed employment for the duration of the enlistment contract.
    One hudree percent tuition assistance, and even college loan repayment if you have outstanding student loans. Travel, Education, Adventure, Money, and Service to Country are enough reasons to make the committment.

    Cons

    When situation dictates and our nation is at war or in conflict with other nations or terrorist grooups one may be asked to deploy for up to a years time away from family and loved ones.

    Advice to Management

    Consider cutting deployments to 9 months and lets keep the drawdown to a minimum

    Unlimited opportunity for job advancement and personal developmental growth. Unlimited opportunity for leadership positions and challenges. Standard medical and dental health care coverage for family. Opportunity for travel worldwide.

    Cons

    Minimal control of policies and regulations. Lower salary than non-military positions due to free medical and dental coverage. Average housing allowance not always competitive with location.
