I have been working at US Army full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good pay, good benefits, overall good experience. Ability to see the efficient impacts of your decision making. Good benefits after separation. Fast-paced at times which tests work ethic and commitment.

    Cons

Well, if you don't like sleeping and training outside every now and then, and deploying to the middle east every other year you may not enjoy it. But it comes with the territory. Besides, deployments should subside considerably in the next couple years. Some people can be difficult to work with, but I'm sure that's the case everywhere.

    Advice to Management

Senior leadership needs to recognize that they need to see their job partially as a public servant and realize their actions and decisions have considerable impacts on the lives of their Soldiers and their families. While flexibility is an important facet of serving in the military, training exercises should be scheduled and locked in advance to limit impact on Soldiers' personal lives.

"You're not important, what you do is important."
