I worked at US Army full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

The range of jobs to chose from is fantastic.
The environment instills great core values and a fantastic work ethic.

Cons

For those who do not like a lot of structure and discipline, the Army can be a challenge.
They take their procedures very seriously, even to the level of harming efficiency and productivity.

Advice to Management

Be more open-minded concerning procedures. The old ways are not always the best ways.

I have been working at US Army (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good Pay and incentives, an organization that truly cares for the individual Soldier, great advancement if you work hard, meet great people and truly see the world.

    Cons

Long hours, time away from family, Not all supervisors at the Senior level put the effort to make the organization a better place. Be prepared to leave your family for months at a time. Be prepared to be the worlds police, some missions are well worth the time apart from family.Other missions are for political reasons and the aftermath of that decision will always be with those who have suffered from that decision.

    Advice to Management

Don't forget where you came from, learn to lead by example and not because I told you mentality. Ask yourself once in awhile does this really make since and not make Soldiers do it because you don't won't to admit you can't accomplish all tasks that are given to you with the assets you have available. There is a consiquence to everything you make a decision on, it may not effect you but has a very negative impact on those that work for you.
