I have been working at US Army full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

- Gave me maturity and discipline, what I lacked coming out of high school.
- Leadership training, one of the most marketable and scarcest job skill in today's market.
- You build life long friends, high school/college friends pale in comparison.....brotherhood!
- Serve your country, not yourself. You get to be part of something bigger!
- Outstanding educational benefits, GiBill and ROTC scholarship helped in exponential ways.

Cons

- Long hours, far from home.....not for the timid.
- 20 years takes a toll on the body.

Advice to Management

1. Reinforce common sense
2. Purge the toxic leaders.
3. Demand all COL and above go through a 360 assessment prior to a promotion board...don't let them cherry pick the assessors, let the OER system assign them.
4. Ditch the PT belts for everything, it looks awful....or see #1.

I worked at US Army full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Amazing benefits, paid training, and the whole place you can whine and joke about work and not worry about getting fired. Follow the rules and have fun.

    Cons

You do give up quite a few rights. Deployments can be extremely hard on any relationship - if you are single there is no better place

    Advice to Management

    none
