I have been working at US Army part-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

As a reservist, I get to see both sides of the world. The Army gives you a lot of opportunities to succeed and better yourself. Has the best health, dental, and retirement plan of any other company that I have worked for, and the job can at some times be rewarding

Cons

Dealing with stupidity. The "Hurry up and Wait" saying should be the new slogan for the Army. Its also tough to deal with stupidity at some points.

I have been working at US Army part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Provides discipline, and I was able to develop a sense of worth while serving. Great people, benefits are alright.

    Cons

I was micromanaged a lot. In almost everything I did I had a higher ranked individual breathing down my neck.

    Advice to Management

Just because I'm a lower rank than you, doesn't mean I don't know what I'm doing. Have some faith in your subordinates.

I have been working at US Army full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Opportunites to travel around the world. Good Benefits. Comrades you will remember forever. The Opportunity for performing a noble endeavor. 30 day paid vacation each year.

    Cons

Work Life Balance Suffers. One bad leader can bring forth much unneeded chaos. Definitely an underlying current to kick experienced people to the curb beings the wars may be done soon.

    Advice to Management

Focus on things that are still relevant to our combat mission. We are still at war.
