I worked at US Bureau of Land Management full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of responsibility, good benefits, excellent health insurance. Lots of,opportunities with other agencies once you arei in the system. Many locations are in beautiful places to live.

    Cons

The bar is set pretty low for some positions you will have to supervise with little chance of you actually being able to do anything about their performance. Seems like plenty of people in government civil service have little to motivate them. Some of,the communities in which you might have to work are pretty much red neck and hate government.

    Advice to Management

Everyone knows the score. Little opportunity for change unless government reinvents itself and starts demanding more accountability.
