I worked at US Department of the Interior as a contractor (More than 3 years)

Pros

Fantastic pay, had a great learning experince, and job was fun to work. Managment at site was great, always willing to work with you.

Cons

Very hard to get a full time job. Lots of government rules and regulations. Cant get promoted at site you work at.

Advice to Management

The seasonals should get rewarded for their hard work.

    Pros

Worked at the Washington DC Headquaters. Good Place to work, a lot of bureoucracy (as you can expect in the Federal Government) , but overall competent people and very passionate about their work.

    Cons

Bureoucracy can make it difficult to implement efficiency measures that can help productivity. If you want to work hard, you can have a difficult time with those workmates that want the usual 8-5 work hours.

    Advice to Management

Reduce bureocracy. Implement productivity measures and a more horizontal hierarchy, with a clear path to promotion and less focus on politics.
