I have been working at US Investigations Services part-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Benefits maybe (depends), nights/weekends/holidays off, time off, easy job, meet people, hot women come in everyday, easy place to pick up women, 8 hour shift with lunch break

Cons

No opportunities for advancement. No pay increases until years later. Standing all day which will take a toll on your knees eventually.

Advice to Management

Give us some good reasons to come to work.

I worked at US Investigations Services as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Like I said, not the worst work you can come up with around here. Pays well enough for entry level, make more if you 2nd shift. They need people who can pass a background check, so if you've got a clean record (and not much else going for you), it's an easy hire.

    Cons

-Treat employees like children. Every few weeks you see a meeting scolding the department as a whole for something someone did or failed to do.

-Opaque disciplinary process. They claim they have integrity, when really "fire the new guy and just put this mess behind us" is their solution to disputes between employees, although they won't admit as much.

-Poorly prepared to train new hires. Be prepared for *months* of recycling folders as day after day goes by while they're either too busy to train you or not busy enough to train you.

-Poor overall workload management. They'll anticipate 2 hours of overtime, but then the work just runs out mid-day. They also refuse to train more people on the most labor-intensive case-type, claiming that they don't have time, when that case type is the largest determining factor in mandatory overtime.

    Advice to Management

Live up to your standards of integrity, and be more forward-thinking about training: be willing to invest more hours today to save massive amounts of overtime due to understaffing tomorrow.

I worked at US Investigations Services as a contractor (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It's a paycheck...sort of, assuming they remember to pay you.

    Cons

    Where do I start?
    1. The management is horrible! It's up to the employees to find "solutions" to everything

    2. The Overtime is outrageous. They sweet talk you to believe there's minimal if any OT, no holidays, no weekends. It's a LIE. Don't walk away, RUN! RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!
Basically, you are responsible for EVERY weekend (Saturdays and sundays) and EVERY holiday even Christmas. Then to make things even better, they toss in about 3-4 hours of OT...Every Single DAY. It's "Mandatory Voluntary" AKA you are Required to Volunteer for it or they will kindly show you the door.

    3. Ethics? What ethics? Every recorded working time in increments of 3, 5, and 15 all day every day? Me neither till I worked here. Do you have to record everything you do? Yes. Even when you go to the restroom. They have to justify paying you, of course

    4. Equal Opportunity - there's a laugh. You want a better position? Just whine and complain and belly ache until mgmt. gets fed up and hands you want you want just to pacify you. Then it's your co-worker's fault that you're short staffed and standards aren't met.

    5. Raises and Merits - You might get one. If you never call off, leave early, fall short of any outrageously high standard, never talk to anyone other than your manager, sell your soul for at least 5 years, NEVER EVER question the exact location of any ridiculous or absurd policy is in the contract when management says "don't worry about it, it's in the contract", and you recruit your entire family to work there too. You might get anywhere from 10-15 CENTS...assuming they can afford raises and merits that year.

    6. Benefits. Homeless people who refuse to sign up for public assistance have better benefits. That's all I need to say there!!

    7. Everything they tell you is a LIE to get you to work for them. EVERYTHING. in my time there, it didn't take long for me to figure that out.

    8. ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU ARE A CONTRACT WORKER AND MILLIONS OF OTHER PEOPLE WANT AND QUALIFY FOR YOUR JOB!!

---To note: I voluntarily left for another company offering the same job, better pay, not underground, and all around more agreeable.

    Advice to Management

Consider the employees first, talk to them without threatening their employment, learn the jobs your employees do before you walk into contract negotiations. Your employees are the reason you even have a job. That is something frequently forgot.
