I have been working at US Marine Corps full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Leading Marines was by far the most challenging and rewarding experience of my professional life. Sure, flying jets was cool, but having an impact on those young lives was tremendous.

Cons

I finished my career in the Pentagon working on acquisition programs. It's a broken system that was enormously frustrating, but it's the reality of the system we have in place.

Advice to Management

Trust your Marines.

I have been working at US Marine Corps full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Number one is I am surrounded by the finest people I could hope to work with. My job is intellectually challenging and world changing. I have had unlimited educational opportunities, earning three masters along the way. Global deployments make it the most interesting job I can imagine.

    Cons

Time away from family tops the list. The pending draw down has limited promotion opportunities and of course there is the standard bureaucratic nonsense like any organization faces.

    Advice to Management

Hold the standard, do not give in to fads or political whims.

    Cons

Insane, they will make you do STUPID, CRAZY, NONE-SENSE stuff.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work
