I have been working at US Marine Corps full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You will never have a more rewarding experience than leading Marines. They will astound you with what they are capable of.

    Cons

The bureaucracy can be stifling at times. You will spend long hours waiting on the nebulous "word". The organization is rife with inefficiency, and the "Peter Principle" is in full effect, often resulting in incompetent officers being placed in senior leadership positions.

    Advice to Management

Revise the entire personnel management system. The Corps needs to completely re-think how we recruit, assign, promote, and compensate individuals. Tradition is no excuse for failing to adapt to a changing world.
