Approves of CEO

I have been working at US Marine Corps full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Discipline, knowledge and ability to make a contribution that makes a difference. Opportunity for growth and progressive leadership positions. Offers true challenges that help you understand who you really are and what you're capable of.

Cons

As a small service, we do more with less. That often means less time to lead and mentor. Everyone has a job and multiple collateral duties. Juggling all these duties, trying to maintain proficiency, it's hard to keep all the balls in the air. The first one to fall is often the people.

Advice to Management

Take time to observe subordinates. Take notes, keep records, know your Marines. Don't rely on your subordinate's self evaluation to make up for your lack of leadership.

I worked at US Marine Corps as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Teaches you so many invaluable lessons and can give you direction in life, if you are looking for those things

    Cons

If you already have a good head on your shoulders, then you should really consider getting a civilian job. Nothing is as glamorous as it sounds
