I have been working at US National Guard full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Flexible hours, great pay, awesome benefits. Watching young people mature in front of your eyes is a great feeling.

Cons

Sometimes it's a numbers game and the focus get shifted to the quantity of recruits instead of the quality of the young men and women being recruited.

Advice to Management

Listen to your leaders. They are on the front lines.

    Pros

They pay 100% of college tuition.

    Cons

I heard my state is trying to cut the college tuition funding.

    Advice to Management

Try to get people actual hands on training for their jobs other than just AIT.

I have been working at US National Guard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Become a part of a family of fellow Soldiers, all living and working in the state where you live. Helping your community during times of distress (fires or floods, or civil disturbance), or assisting in community events such as annual festivals, or fairs.

    Cons

Possibility of mobilizinng for duty over seas, sacrifice a weekend a month, and two weeks for training. May be called out to work in poor weather to help with flood support, away from family.

    Advice to Management

The nature of the Army is to "go and do". Usually overseas, but any time to provide time with the family or with the social group of choice instead of always conducting field training.
