I worked at US National Guard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits; Education Financial help, Tricare Health, VA support.

    Cons

Away from home due to school/deployment; It turns out to much more than 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks per year. Basic Training & MOS School for up to 6 months, Professional educational schools for promotion, it all adds up. A lot of stress for self and family members.

    Advice to Management

Retention should be a bigger concern with a shrinking budget than training new recruits.
