I have been working at US National Guard part-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Gain valuable decision making skills. Learn to move outside your comfort zone. Great money for college. Great pride in your work and the country.

Cons

Had to leave family for extended periods of time. Too much bureaucracy at times. Sometimes the food and living conditions are not enjoyable.

Advice to Management

Take care of soldiers first.
