    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at US National Guard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent educational benefits. State to state varies though

    Cons

In comparison to active duty, the Guard has tons of incompetence running rampant through the ranks. Way too many selfish leaders. It's a goodly old boy network and unless you know the secret handshake, you're left out in the cold.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your former active duty soldiers and value their experiences rather than shun them and shut them out. Lose the permanent profile. If a soldier is broke and can't deploy, med board them out and quit promoting them. They are of no use to the organization and are combat ineffective. Take a hard look at recruiting and retention. You are losing good people to other services and components, because your standards for enlistment change are wishy-washy, at best, and the kids get tired of getting jacked around so they go elsewhere. On the back end, Soldiers are leaving in droves because they are intelligent enough to see the corruption and hypocrisy that goes on in the organization.

    Pros

Great mission and loyal coworkers for the most part.

    Cons

Promotion system is corrupt and many people are promoted based on how they look on paper vs. how competent they are in their job duties. It also, and unfortunately, has a "who you know" element to the system.
