I have been working at US Navy full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Advancement depends on you; if your look for the jobs nobody else wants and put in the effort to do it well people will notice your hard work. Ability to see the world if you chose and to see it at angles most others will never know exist. Education benefits, there are no reasons anyone should leave a career and not have taken advantage of tuition assistance.

Cons

I cant think of one.

I worked at US Navy full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great place to start if you are not sure of what you want to do in life. College is paid as long as you are honorable discharged. Plenty of travel and the opportunity to meet people from all other the world. I was furtunate to work at the office environment most of the time so moral was high. Trainig may or may not be great depends on the field.

    Cons

Military has changed, downsizing so there if more resposability and longer hours with no over time. Sacrify to be away from friends and family for long periods of time. The older leadership always wins so become part and friendly to this group circle.

    Advice to Management

Look into better ways to handle disciplinary review boards. It is every but disciplinary, humiliating, and downgrading on individuals who make a mistake in their career.

    Pros

Travel is amazing. Get to see places you dream of while getting paid. The friendships you make will last forever.

    Cons

Travel is limited by curfew the first few years. Just like everywhere else there are people above you on power trips.
