I have been working at US Postal Service full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Salary and benefits that's about it!

    Cons

The place is micromanaged. You have individuals that have no Experience in the field that they are managing. Management sets unreasonable numbers to meet. They use threats and intimidation every single day you step into the work place. I have worked 13 years for the company and it gets worst every year. I have to say I have never enjoyed my employment at the postal service do to the horrible treatment by the management. The biggest saying in the postal service is that " management has the right to mismanage."

    Advice to Management

Need to take suggestions from employees in things that need to be addressed in the way the business is run. Stop with the threats and intimidation in the everyday workplace. You will get more productivity with the better treatment of the employees.

I worked at US Postal Service as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

There are no pros to working at the post office unless you are a full time employee making $26+ an hour, but that takes 6-10 yrs

    Cons

Working in bad weather, working terrible routes, pay was worth it at one point, but not anymore. Working every Saturday sucks, running routes that are timed less than what they actually take, not getting extra time for the routes on heavy mail days, get phone calls at early times the day of & get sent to another office on a route you have no clue about.
FYI... The Post Master is pd a higher salary than the president & he wants to cut Saturdays & cut Part Timers from $22 to $15 an hour!

    Advice to Management

Trust your carriers more often, do better training, go back to paying your part time folks $22 hr. $15 an hour for crap you deal with isn't worth it at all
