I worked at US Postal Service part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Pay is Great, it's just you and the mail.

Cons

Rural Route, you have to keep your vehicle up to par. Mail delivery is horrible on a vehicle. If yours breaks, management may not understand and still expects you to be there. Have a back up!

I worked at US Postal Service full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great co-workers - friendly, eager to help and give advice. Nice supervisors at the location I was assigned to. Customers on my routes were very nice.

    Cons

Crazy hours. CCAs do the same work as "regular" carriers but earn much less and have fewer benefits because USPS needs to keep its budget down. Performance standards not always as clear as they should be.

    Advice to Management

Training should include work on a route so trainees can see how physical the job is before they start work at their assigned location - it seems that some people were really surprised by how physical the work is and were unable to last more than a few days.

I have been working at US Postal Service full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The carriers do get decent pay. However, the new contractual employees do not get decent pay nor do they get benefits

    Cons

Absolutely no personal life/work balance. No compensation to work in all weather conditions
