I have been working at USAA full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Most of the managers I have had have been very good. Overall there is a great work environment. Lots of perks and nice benefits.

Cons

Structure can be overly regimented in some aspects.

Advice to Management

There are new ways of working coming on the horizon. Command and Control style thinking and ways of getting things done can only take you so far. Even if top management understands this, USAA won't be able to innovate unless middle and front line managers begin to understand how to tap into the full potential of all the employees.

I worked at USAA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent wages; professional, yet relaxed environment. On-site cafés and shop. Covered parking. Gym. Flexible working hours once you have put in time.

    Cons

Company has bitten off more than they can chew. They have taken on a larger segment of the marketplace thru increased advertising and are now extremely understaffed to handle all the continuous, back-to-back calls. They say they are going to continue hiring, but with high turnover from burnt out employees, they will just keep spinning their wheels.

    Advice to Management

Next time use some foresight before jumping head first into the desire to get more customers. What you have now has increased customer dissatisfaction and has driven away good workers.
