I have been working at USIC full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Alot of freedom throughout your day. If you do the job and meet/exceed daily goals, usually there are no problems and opportunities for advancement. Company is fiscally responsible and seem to be growing in size, but that does affect your income at times.

Cons

Industry is closely related to construction industry. So when the economy is down, your income goes down.

Advice to Management

Stop overhiring and having knee-jerk reactions

    Pros

Getting a poor-check and using their vehicle

    Cons

    Constant moving without a break

    Advice to Management

Get supervisors that actually care about their employees rather than their productivity. They say at this company that their reputation and safety of their employess is important but my experience has been that they only care about how much money a locate technician can make them in doing jobs and you must a production robot without a brain or voice in order to have longevity with this company(if you can even call them that!) The upper management also emphasizes that there is an open door policy if you are having an issue with your immediate supervisors but as soon as you exercise your right to free speech, they throw you out that same open door. What a waste of time working for a company that clearly cares only about their own bottom line-there is no family here. This company had better learn how to really transform theirselves into real people persons that know how to handle real employee issues instead of firing their problems and last thing-poor training in the field once you get out of their written training program! Most new people feel lost for a while!!

I worked at USIC full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

All the hours you want to work.

    Cons

Upper management does not support their employees and limits what the supervisors can or cant do.There is no job security they have too many rules that give them the option to let you go.There is too much focus on what the employee is doing wrong but no help in fixing the problem.

    Advice to Management

Give up some of the controll to the supervisors to make decisions about thier employees. Quit firing so many people for minor issues and making the rest of the team work more and harder to cover untill you finally fire so many that you have to start a new class that is too late to help the crew from getting damages or burned out. thats why i quit.
