Pros

Good place to work if you want to work for an academic medical center. The place does have somewhat of a teaching and academic feel, so it is not so corporate. Start off with over 3 weeks of vacation and lots of holidays. State pension is nice for retirees of the system.

Cons

Has the bureaucracy of a university and state run agency combined. This can be challenging for those who are used to a for-profit, or smaller organization environment. Decisions can take a long time.

Advice to Management

Communicate the vision and mission of the hospitals and clinics to the employees. Building a new hospital is not a mission. It is a building. Making Dallas the healthiest city in the country, now that is a mission that UTSW should be pursuing and would inspire employees and admirers of UTSW alike!

    Pros

    Great benefits package and PTO

    Cons

All the decisions are focused solely on senior management and the clinicians opinions. There is a lack of respect for the professional employees who do not hold MDs.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to the employees
