I have been working at Under Armour full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Good benefits, growth company, entrepreneurial, moral boosting events with athletes, healthy choices available with on-site gym and cafe. Since the company is growing you may be first to author a new process or even make your mark in the company's history. Overall the basic corporate culture encourages employees to work and play hard.

Cons

Although the culture is positive at a corporate level the support to the individual at the department level isn't strong while expectations still remain high. Little is done by management or HR to map career paths. High potentials slip through the cracks and careers plateau. The best way to survive is to "find a way" to get the job done while keeping your head down. Ideas not thought through from top ranks turn into fire drills which can derail other reasonable projects. Also, the culture is young and sports oriented which is reminiscent of the popular kids and fraternity days.

Advice to Management

Many employees believe in the Brand's mission and the work they can do if they're given the opportunity. Work with them to give them clear visions for their future in order to retain them. The job market is a two way relationship. Also, figure out a way to prevent marginalizing employees on the peripheral of the typical "sports team captain" prototype. A smart leader knows how to use the full roster's set of skills.

I worked at Under Armour as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Loved the employees, upper management was great! Everyone is very welcoming, young and enthusiastic. Baltimore was wonderful and beautiful and I loved my experience there

    Cons

The company is getting bigger and bigger every year, so it is becoming much more corporate over time.
