Pros

A good place to gain experience in the wood products industry. Compensation and benefits are competitive for that industry.

Cons

Plant is run by a dictator which limits true teamwork. Knee jurk reactions to issues is common place.

Advice to Management

Define your plan to be employer of choice and implement. Just saying that you are, will never get you there.

I have been working at Uniboard Canada full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Challenging fast pace environment. Wide variety of products promotes learning. Competitive salary, profit sharing and benefits plans. Flexible work hours

    Cons

Not very well organized. Missing alignment at senior level. Decisions often appear to be short term and opportunistic. Work in silo does not promote teamwork across the organization. Missed opportunities and too many time-wasters. Work processes, roles and responsibilities are not properly defined.

    Advice to Management

Common goals and improved communication of company long term vision would better align people and departments across the organization. Great potential exits! It would be beneficial for management to better understand work processes.
