I have been working at Unisys full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

-Excellent remote connectivity makes for good work/life balance.
-Company has cut a lot of dead wood and streamlined many processes.
-Diverse and Talented co-workers
-Better than average starting salary

Cons

-Strong internal focus deters revenue growth
-Archaic corporate culture
-Ceaseless good old boy politics; not what you know but who you know
-Top heavy, ineffective senior management
-Must negotiate a great starting salary as increases are practically non-existent
-Constant cost cutting and layoffs; company has cut roughly 50% of jobs in the past 6 years except at the executive level

Advice to Management

Current CEO was hired to make the company viable again, no question that he succeeded. New leadership with proven skill in growing revenue is now needed. Until then the company remains in constant crisis mode, promoting no career growth for the average employee due to constantly changing (or non-existent) goals and objectives.

I have been working at Unisys full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Perfect for work / life balance

    Cons

Platform to enable employee communication at the developer level across projects is very poor. The focus is always on the Management and other processes. Being an IT company I feel the focus should be on developer focused practices.

    Advice to Management

Give developers at least 10% of their time to do experiments and research. This is will help build systems faster and probably smartly. Every developer should share their 10% research time with their team, no matter how insignificant it is.

  2. "Good customer, project management turnover was the problem"

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Unisys full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The location (Boise) was nice, the customer was reasonable, the work was stimulating, and most of my co-workers were friendly, professional, and good to work with.

    Cons

The turnover at the highest levels of the project management team was problematic, and there never seemed to be much, if any, support from the corporate level

    Advice to Management

Unisys sold off this division of the company, so no advice would be relevant at this point.
