I have been working at United Nations as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Multicultural environment ergo people aware of cultural differences and biases
Pretty relax atmosphere, compared to the private sector

    Cons

Very inconsistent and non-sense security procedures
Somewhat condescending attitude toward interns which are perceived as having nothing or little to contribute to
    Too bureaucratic and elitist
Still runs like a 1950 public administration
    Unpaid internship

    Advice to Management

instead of always hiring so-called experts to produce a report before making changes in the organisation or the procedures, going back to the basis of common sense won't hurt. The Secretariat needs to revisit its work procedures and you need young bloods for that. The staff seems more proud to state that it works for the UN than actually doing something to uphold the public image and perception of the organisation.

I worked at United Nations as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible working environment, exciting diversity, sufficient day-offs, opportunities for career development..

    Cons

Bureaucracy (slow progress of work, compartmentalized environment), sometimes lack of cooperation, low accessibility to employment..

    Advice to Management

you guys work hard. Thanks a lot for that. However, there should be more strategies for overcoming bureaucracy and lack of cooperation between offices and divisions. However, overall, I pay a tribute to the management for their accomplishments and goodwill.
