I have been working at United Natural Foods as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

I liked how close the company was. There were plenty of opportunities for overtime, and the pay rate was competitive. I loved the four day work week.

    Cons

I wasn't fond of their order picking policies (You had to pick 100 locations per hour minimum with minimal mis-picks, or you were at risk for termination). Manditory overtime was tough sometimes, with some shifts ending at 3:00 AM but these were rare cases.

I worked at United Natural Foods full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits including very low cost health insurance. Employee stock ownership plan was very interesting. The 401K match was excellent also.

    Cons

Corporate HR was slow to get 401K into motion. Working hours were very long and were 6 day work week. Did not feel any sort of appreciation other than being at work.

    Advice to Management

Need to treat the employees better. Long work hours as well as 6 days per week is simply too much for people to deal with and still maintain any kind of work/life balance.
