I have been working at United Space Alliance full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Exposure to manned spaceflight systems operations and development
Use many programming languages
Very good management team
Under the rough circumstances, a very open and honest senior management
The Houston area has wonderful schools for our children
Rich culture
Low cost of living
Warm weather

Cons

Maned spaceflight is downsizing making the jobs unstable
No bonuses
Benefits are below average
Office space is outdated, especially onsite at Johnson Space Center

Advice to Management

Keep being honest to employees about the future of their jobs. Once we heard USA was no longer going to bid on new projects, that seemed to be a clue to start looking for new jobs. I wish management would try to evolve USA into other areas. This would possibly save the doomed but good company and save thousands of good jobs.

    Pros

The Flight Crew Equipment department was the best area I ever worked in during my career with USA. The hands-on with flight hardware was a great experience.

    Cons

There always seemed to have a "mens world" environment lurking in the background.
