I have been working at United States Department of Energy full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Huge budget, invests in employee training and certifications. Good place to work for project managers. Many different locations and types of work available.

Cons

Too many contractors, not enough feds. Programs never given full opportunity to be completed as they are often changed or cancelled upon appointment of a new secretary.

Advice to Management

Change the ratio of federal employees to contractors. Allow projects to be implemented and completed before you pull the plug. implement strong central control over the laboratories.

I have been working at United States Department of Energy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you can get a ladder position it is a great starting job. If you are motivated and have a good boss there are plenty of great projects to pick up that are challenging.

    Cons

Things take forever to get done and you will deal with a very large number of incompetent people who lack any motivation.

    Advice to Management

Work on better training new hires.
