    Pros

Company treats people well at a high level, e.g. great benefits. Lots of smart, hardworking people. Much of management nearing retirement age (con for now), which may mean many opportunities for advancement in a few years.

    Cons

Tendency to take for granted that U. S. Steel is not the center of the universe and people are willing to leave if dissatisfied. Having experience is an important consideration for advancement, but there is too much emphasis on age/seniority over talent.

    Advice to Management

Company should be a meritocracy, not a glorified union

    Pros

Pride in working for a company that creates products that add value to society.

    Cons

Age is basis for promotion, not knowledge or skill. Management is treated as a glorified union rep by HR.
