I have been working at United Way full-time (More than a year)

Pros

It feels good to go to work everyday and know that you are helping to improve the community in which you work and live.

Cons

A non-profit work environment is pleasant to work in, the corporate world may pay more but the non-profit realm is most likely more rewarding.

I worked at United Way as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Great people
    Liked the type of work
    Good hours

    Cons

There was no opportunity for permanent employment while I was there.
Things often done at the last minute ( where is that not a con?)

    Positive Outlook

I worked at United Way full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexibility in schedule. Staff is amazing, and everyone loves working there. Lots of fun events, fundraisers, and they have speakers come in from all the local NPO's.

    Cons

Pay isn't so great. Can be demanding sometimes, including weekends and late nights. Hard to obtain a job, unless hired as an intern.

    Advice to Management

Give more opportunities to other entry level employees to begin working for the organization.
