Pros

Some spaces within United Health Group enable a great deal of growth due to the challenges of such a large organization and how it has come together through acquisition. For the right person, there are endless opportunities to seek out new challenges.

Cons

The breadth of organizations make it challenging to step back and see the full picture. Too often it seems that the answer that looks good is enough and it can be a real struggle to get people past the first impression to the real problems which are much harder to solve for without tough choices.

Advice to Management

Greater attention needs to be paid across the board to bloated areas of the organization to avoid cost cutting in areas which are as lean as they can be.

    Pros

Good growth and learning opportunities, good raises if you're a high performer, good management but it all depends on what department/team you're in as I've heard other departments can be a nightmare. Wish they were more willing to promote on the basis of skill and not on the basis of how long you've been there.

    Cons

Generally don't hire young, new people

    Advice to Management

Take a chance on fresh graduates and train them up.

I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Currently, good work from home policy. Very large company so ability to move within is available.

    Cons

Company looks out for bottom line and stockholders over employee pay and bonus. Employee review policy is a forced bell curve. While movement internal is available, it's not real easy or quick.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees fairly on merit without the weighted reviews. Implement a 360 review policy. Be more transparent in communications.
