I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

We have a generous PTO allowance of 4-5 weeks, competitive salaries, and friendly coworkers. In many positions telecommuting is allowed. A pretty diverse work environment with men, and women of many ages, races and backgrounds.

Cons

Some of the corporate IT policies are very restrictive and the workstation software tends to be very outdated. I find there are limited opportunities for advancement within the company. Salary increases and bonuses are infrequent or non-existent depending upon what your pay grade is, how much your manager likes you, and who others in your department are.

Advice to Management

If you want to keep your talented staff it would be a good idea to make more opportunities for advancement for long time employees.

I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great culture and generally great people to work with, rich benefits, great commissions IF you hit goal, market leader, powerful company

    Cons

Challenging times for health carriers, very fast and sometimes drastic changes to job role and structure, several levels of management....all watching what you're doing

    Advice to Management

Keep the culture going....truly great! Work on the communication between levels of management and ask more for people's input.

I worked at UnitedHealth Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pays a living wage, decent benefits, full-time, various schedules, rarely ever work weekends (can volunteer when OT is available)

    Cons

It's insurance so you deal w/ people who are generally not happy, you have metrics you have to meet (not usually hard to do)
