Pros

Management has an attitude of service to both the stockholders and member customers. They understand that health care simply costs to much and is becoming more unaffordable to a growing number of people. Still, the medical industry will continue to be under tremendous pricing pressure due to increased costs of providing service while affordability is pressing on the other end.

Cons

Growth thru acquisition leads to poorly integrated systems and inefficiencies. These disconnected systems make it extremely difficult to deliver to the mission statement of healing health care. This along with employee attrition leads to a limited knowledgebase of a very poorly organized infrastructure.

Advice to Management

Fast-track the integration of competing computer platform systems

    Pros

Great location, good compensation, awesome co-workers. Plenty of PTO, and the company is flexible when you can use it. The industry is relatively stable and recession resistant.

    Cons

Company suffers from a massive bureaucracy that makes it difficult to get anything done. Company is also very slow to embrace new technology and seems to place roadblocks under the veil of it being a 'security risk'. Project oriented focus makes it difficult to advanced its technical infrastructure.

    Advice to Management

We get the occassional e-mail memos, but your employees never hear from you. Why not dedicate an afternoon to get people excited about the company, its future, and allow us to understand your philosophy?

    Pros

It is one of large corporations but the work environment is still like that of a small company, provides good growth opportunities and recognizes your efforts with both words and monetary rewards.

    Cons

For such large corporation it still lacks good benefits compared to other similar sized companies. Surprisingly health benefits are not as good when you think it is the biggest health insurance company.

    Advice to Management

    1) Better Benefits
    2) Too many complex processes around core job functions. These processes although needed can make jobs frustrating. These processes definitely can be made simpler to improve work efficiency and even cut cost.
