I worked at University Bancorp part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Had a great vacation package for a new hire. Starting off at 18 days and received all federal holidays. Was able to be exposed to a lot of different areas within the accounting department. Was able to work with team in a close environment.

    Cons

Negative culture all around. Such a high turn over rate and this didn’t concern management or executives at all. HR did not provide a fostering environment within the company. It was all up to the individual department. Unfortunately, the accounting department lacked true leadership ability. Very hard to communicate with management and management did want to communicate with the associates as they felt it was... beneath them. Also management lacked any sense of direction of how to lead a team or achieve deadlines. Always was scrambling to get things done at the last minute. Ultimately, it was a very unsupportive and toxic environment.

    Advice to Management

Have a management team that is actually in the office and working with the associates. Start creating a team environment throughout the whole company and not just an individual department. Start matching the 401k.
