Pros

Some employees were great to work with and were team players. Benefits and time off are great if they will let you off. Great Retirement (5 years),and longevity bonus after eight years of service.

Cons

Extreme stress, out of date computer programs and equipment. Management rarely speaks to the employees except when making changes to the work flow. Constant changes that seem to have no logical conclusion, resulting in perpetual stress and anxiety.

Advice to Management

work some hours to find out what the employees are really dealing with. Schedule meeting that encourage new ideas from the people who do the work. At least make them think you care about what they have to contribute. If something works- don't change it for changes sake!

    Negative Outlook

I worked at University Medical Center of Southern Nevada full-time

    Pros

Retirement, health and dental benefits are above market longevity pay. Location is central to the Las Vegas Valley. Reputable physicians and quality of care.

    Cons

Leadership as of 2015 at the CEO level is tone-deaf, lacking of vision and unable to listen to front line UMC employees. Recent changes in leadership have created a power vacuum at the top that has gone unchecked and inexperienced leadership starts each day behind the 8 ball. The poor culture at the top has trickled down to the rank and file quickly. There is seemingly no desire to entertain inout or opinions from the clinical level. Everyone keeps their heads down and remains uninvolved while top level executives muddle through seemingly without a plan or direction.

    Advice to Management

Advice to county commissioners and community board members would be to seek top leaders skilled in running a business, leadership, and the creation of culture for key leadership roles. In the meantime, reassess the qualifications of those in key spots. The pattern of promoting by attrition is failing.
